Hob Green dates back to the late 18th century and was for many years the home of the Hutchinson family.
Drawing on their century-long association with the Ripon Spa Hotel, the Hutchinsons converted Hob Green into a country house hotel in 1982 and maintain an active involvement with its day-to-day running. The house has been carefully altered and restored to form a charming and elegant hotel. The main rooms retain many original features and their antique furniture, and enjoy a stunning view of the valley below. Our entrance hall and reception lead to the drawing room with its collection of luxury easy sofas and stools that compliment the antiques, such as Marquetry furniture, and log fire.
A doorway leads to the HaHa, another room with a view. The HaHa brings a modern design edge to an otherwise classical hotel and is ideal for eating, meetings or private parties. Landscapes by the Markington award winning artists, are exhibited in this area. Beyond the HaHa is the disabled access. This room is light and bright with an Oriental theme of bamboo furniture and straw hats. Access to the terrace is through this room where wrought iron tables and soft garden furnishings are placed for your comfort on balmy summer days.
The dining room, with its theme of waterfowl and a colour scheme of green, comfortably accommodates diners on tables of 2 to 6 on a normal day -to- day basis. However, larger tables for parties of 8 to 12 can be catered for within the "Butler's Pantry", a cosy, self-contained room next to the dining room. This room has a view of the herbaceous border, just one feature of our award-winning gardens.
Larger parties can be held within the main dining room up to a total of 40 diners, or 50 if the "Butler's Pantry" is required too - see our Restaurant page for more details.
All 11 bedrooms are individually decorated and have en-suite facilities. One room has a four-poster bed and another is a suite with a separate sitting room attached. Each room contains all mod cons with television, tea /coffee making facilities, well stocked mini-bar and luxury consumables in the bathroom.
